Center for Gastrointestinal Motility and Secretion

The Center for Gastrointestinal Motility and Secretion, a section within the Department of Surgery, provides a full range of esophageal motility testing together with pH monitoring.

New solid state equipment offers very efficient esophageal motility and manometry using the Sierra Scientific ManoScan 360. Three types of pH studies are also offered by the Motility Center including standard wire positioned acid pH studies, Bravo wireless 48-hr acid studies and the new solid state impedance monitoring, a new acquisition to enable the detection of both acid and alkaline reflux. In addition the Center offers specialized secretory testing such as gastric acid secretory studies and secretin stimulation testing. For those patients unable to allow transnasal passage of manometry and pH monitoring equipment, endoscopic assistance is provided through the Endoscopy Center at Moffitt-Long Hospital.
