Dr. Jacquelyn Maher, along with co-investigators Mandana Khalili, Alex Monto, Jay Ryan and Holger Willenbring, was awarded a 2-year grant from the California Institute for Regenerative Medicine (CIRM) to collect biological specimens from patients with liver disease for the generation of disease-specific stem cells. This collaborative effort involves the GI Divisions at all 3 UCSF campuses.

Varun Saxena was awarded the “Rising Star” award for this year’s International Liver Transplant Society conference in Sydney. The award recognizes his research work in "Gender Differences Among Hepatitis C-Infected Liver Transplant Recipients on Protease Inhibitor Triple Therapy."
