The UCSF Center for Colitis and Crohn’s Disease provides comprehensive care for the patient with inflammatory bowel disease (Crohn’s disease, ulcerative colitis, microscopic colitis, and pouchitis).
The IBD physicians at UCSF are experts in the management of complex Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis and are at the cutting edge of new therapy and optimization of available therapies. In addition to existing medical therapy, the center also conducts clinical trials of novel agents. Areas of special focus at the Center include management during conception and pregnancy and colorectal cancer in the IBD patient. The strength of the Center lies in its multidisciplinary team for diagnosis (dedicated IBD radiologists and pathologists), medical management (dedicated IBD gastroenterologists), surgical management (dedicated IBD colorectal surgeons) and nutritional support. The Center also works with specialists in the area of dermatology, rheumatology and ophthalmology to provide expert comprehensive care for all manifestations of IBD.
